ESSA
Today, this need is nowhere more visible than in software development, delivery, and operation – a fast-growing sector where industry stakeholders, education and training providers, and professionals need to keep up with emerging technologies and new trends. The European Software Skills Alliance (ESSA) project will address this challenge and deliver a sustainable strategy for closing the skills gaps and fulfilling the need for professional demand for software services. To this end, the ESSA receives funding from the Erasmus+ programme and involves ambitious partners from industry and academia.
Objectives of the project
The global objective of this project is to design and implement a highly innovative, effective and sustainable Software Skills Strategy and VET Training Programme for Europe that will ensure the skills needs of the rapidly expanding and evolving software sector can be met in the short, medium and long term. The strategy will be market demand-led at its core, continuously adapting and evolving to address current and future market needs in order to support growth, innovation and competitiveness in the sector.
Expected Results
The project includes the establishment of a long-term partnership between The European Software Skills Alliance members; the design of an innovative and sustainable Software Skills Strategy; development, testing and roll-out of VET training curricula for VET and higher VET, programmes and qualifications in line with latest market needs and consistently linked with EU instruments and tools enabling professional skills and career development in general and empowering ICT Professionalism and digital competences in particular; and the widespread dissemination and longterm rollout of the strategy to maximise impact.
Project Activities
The Alliance will work together to develop, implement and disseminate a new Software Skills Strategy that will tackle the current and future skills shortages in the European Software Sector, enabling continuous development, innovation and competitiveness within the industry. The project addresses skills mismatches and shortages by analysing the sector in depth and delivering future-proof curricula and mobility solutions; tailored to the European software sector’s reality.
