Objectives of the Project

The general objective of VIWAS is to establish a sustainable European Academy of Skills for Virtual Worlds, supporting the development of advanced digital competences for learners, educators, professionals and industry.

• Identify Virtual Worlds skills gaps and training needs across Europe, based on labour market trends, industry demand, education provision and stakeholder consultation.
• Develop a European Competence and Qualification Framework for Virtual Worlds, aligned with EU frameworks and supporting transparent skills recognition.
• Create flexible and stackable learning pathways, including microcredentials and training programmes for higher education, VET, professionals, teachers and citizens.
• Build an interoperable Virtual Worlds learning ecosystem, connecting existing training platforms, catalogues and digital learning resources.
• Promote inclusive upskilling and reskilling in immersive technologies, supporting wider access to XR, VR, AR and AI-related competences across Europe.

Project Activities

• Conduct market analysis, skills intelligence and mapping of existing Virtual Worlds training provision across Europe.
• Develop the ViWAS Competence and Qualification Framework and related occupational profiles for Virtual Worlds professions.
• Design and adapt curricula, training modules and microcredential-based learning pathways.
• Build the ViWAS Academy ecosystem, including a catalogue of training offers, interoperability tools and digital learning resources.
• Pilot Virtual Worlds training programmes in higher education, VET and professional learning contexts.
• Deliver teacher-training, industry-integrated learning opportunities, bootcamps, mentoring and other capacity-building actions.
• Monitor quality, learner satisfaction and sustainability, while developing the ViWAS Observatory and long-term operational model.
• Disseminate project results, engage stakeholders and promote the Academy across European digital skills and virtual worlds networks.

Objectives of the Project

The general objective of BUILDS is to accelerate upskilling and reskilling for the construction sector’s workforce, targeting low-skilled workers, current employees requiring new competences, and workers transitioning from other sectors.

The project combines strengthened regional skills governance, enhanced skills intelligence and forecasting, and innovative training offers, while promoting inclusion, regional cohesion and the use of EU tools such as ESCO, DigComp, GreenComp and European Digital Credentials for Learning.

• Specific Objective 1 (SO1): Develop regional governance structures, namely Regional Pact for Skills Hubs, bringing together relevant stakeholders and supporting ongoing coordination and cooperation.
• Specific Objective 2 (SO2): Develop and pilot a practical Skills Intelligence Toolkit for identifying emerging green and digital skills needs at local and regional level in the construction sector, combining labour market data with stakeholder insights and EU frameworks.
• Specific Objective 3 (SO3): Support SMEs in reskilling and upskilling through modular, microcredential-certified training portfolios targeting adult learners, including low-skilled workers, in-transition construction employees and career changers.

• Strengthen Youth Digital Citizenship and Media Literacy Skills:
  Equip young people with the competences to critically navigate online spaces, recognize and counter disinformation, and act ethically and responsibly as digital citizens.
• Promote Intercultural Dialogue, Democratic Values, and Civic Engagement:
  Foster mutual understanding, active participation, and a sense of shared European identity among youth across different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Build Resilience Against Online Radicalization and Hate Speech:
  Empower youth to identify, resist, and counter extremist narratives and hate speech online, strengthening their capacity for democratic resilience.

Expected Results

• Promotion of Virtual Exchanges as an inclusive and sustainable approach for strengthening digital citizenship, civic engagement, and intercultural dialogue among young people.
• Creation of a safe, collaborative, and gamified virtual environment where youth from EU and Western Balkan countries can learn, cooperate, and exchange ideas across cultures.
• Development of young people’s critical digital literacy, media resilience, and ability to identify and respond to disinformation, hate speech, and online polarization.
• Empowerment of vulnerable youth, including NEETs, migrants, and marginalized groups, to participate actively in civic life and become responsible digital citizens.
