ECOTRAIN
The main objective of the ECOTRAIN project is to provide teachers, trainers and educators within the area of VET education in technical professional fields with continuing education in the area of environment and sustainability. Staff from three VET centres focused on technical professions is going to be trained in green skills and competences regarding possible eco-friendly improvements and innovations in different professions. The project mainly aims to improve the capacities of the target group, benefiting the VET staff but also strengthening the participating organizations (capacity building). Furthermore, it aims to benefit young learners in VET centres who will acquire knowledge from the skilled VET trainers.
Objectives of the project
The project aims to:
- Identify methods on how VET courses in technical professions can be made more resource-saving and environmentally friendly;
- Investigate ways on how teachers, trainers and educators can proactively reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to minimizing CO2 emissions in the workplace;
- Identify ways on how this knowledge can be transferred to VET learners.
The following key performing indicators (KPIs) function as a monitoring whether the project has achieved its objectives:
- 3 partner countries
- 3 project partners
- 6 VET centre best practice workshops
- 3 developed learning modules with content for the piloting programme
- 6 piloting workshops with 10 VET teachers, trainers and educators each
- 1 International Final Conference
- 1 article on the website of each of the project partners organizations
- 1 article in the ÖJAB SENF magazine
Expected Results
The project results entail the following:
- Two best practice workshops carried out per partner country collecting examples on green, eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable methods within technical professions. The target group are teachers, trainers and educators from VET centres in technical professions who teach young people and young trainees in these professions.
- Three learning modules about eco-friendly methods and practices in technical professions. The topics of the three learning modules are divided as such: Module A: Already existing green best practice examples in technical professions in the VET centres; Module B: Acting more environmentally conscious concretely in specific technical professions; Module C: Acting more environmentally conscious on the workplace in general.
- At least 60 VET trainers participated in the piloting programme (20 per country)
- One International Final Conference to generate further exchange of experiences between teachers, trainers and educators
