STARS
The STARS project, titled “Shaping Talents and Achieving Vocational Excellence in Sports,” aims to strengthen the sports sector by addressing key challenges and enhancing its quality, inclusiveness, and sustainability. It seeks to create a transferable model for sports education, focusing on developing the skills of sports professionals, athletes, and educators. The project adopts a collaborative and innovative approach to improve stakeholder engagement, foster applied research, and bridge skills gaps through tailored training programs. Ultimately, STARS promotes a more inclusive sports environment, contributing to long-term social and professional development across Europe.
Specific objectives of the project
The objectives of the STARS project are:
Foster collaborative skills partnerships in the sports sector: Enhance cooperation between stakeholders such as sports professionals, educators, and industry representatives to drive long-term impact and sectoral excellence.
Bridge skills gaps: Develop tailored learning modules (learning pills) for upskilling and reskilling of sports professionals, educators, and athletes, ensuring the sector keeps pace with evolving needs.
Promote sports skills ecosystems: Establish a comprehensive sports skills strategy by creating networks and partnerships aimed at addressing current and future skill demands.
Support applied research in sports: Encourage research initiatives that tackle critical issues in the sports sector, from improving athlete training to promoting inclusivity.
Expected Results
The STARS project is expected to deliver the following key results:
Development of a comprehensive sports vocational training model: Creation of learning modules and tools aimed at improving the skills of sports professionals, educators, and athletes.
Creation of Open Sports Schools: Engagement of regional communities by establishing Open Sports Schools, promoting inclusivity and physical activity.
Implementation of tailored upskilling and reskilling programs: Design and execution of specialized training modules to meet the evolving needs of the sports sector.
Increased collaboration among sports and education sectors: Fostering dialogue and cooperation between educational institutions, sports centers, and related stakeholders.
Enhanced employability of sports professionals: Through dual-career pathways, the project will improve career prospects for athletes and professionals within the sports industry.
Promotion of sustainable financial models for sports: Implementation of strategies to ensure long-term sustainability for local and regional sports communities
The activities of the STARS project are divided into five key Work Packages (WPs), each comprising a set of tasks designed to achieve specific outcomes:
WP1: Project Management
- Overseeing the management, coordination, and financial aspects of the project.
- Organizing transnational meetings and ensuring smooth communication among partners.
WP2: Setting up of EU and Regional Skills Partnerships
- Establishment of skills partnerships to foster collaboration in the sports sector.
- Conducting stakeholder consultations to identify skills needs and opportunities.
WP3: Design of a Holistic Sports CoVE Model
- Developing a comprehensive educational model for vocational excellence in sports.
- Creating modules like “Open Sports Schools” and “Dual Careers for Athletes.”
WP4: Application of the Holistic Sports Education Model
- Piloting the educational model in various regions.
- Providing upskilling opportunities to sports professionals and educators through specialized learning modules.
WP5: Dissemination and Achieving Sustainable Impact
- Conducting outreach activities, organizing national and international events.
- Developing a dissemination plan to ensure the sustainability of project results .
