AKMI is proud to celebrate an important international distinction for TourX, which was shortlisted as a finalist at the Teaching Tourism and Hospitality Excellence Awards 2026 (ICTR 2026), held in Lisbon on 16–17 April 2026.
This recognition confirms the strong impact and relevance of the TourX project in the field of tourism education and vocational excellence. Among 17 entries submitted to the competition, only 10 finalists were selected to present their work in person, highlighting TourX as a project of outstanding international value in tourism and hospitality education.
TourX is a major European initiative that responds to the evolving needs of the tourism sector by focusing on future skills, innovation, resilience, and excellence in vocational education and training. The project aims to support the upskilling and reskilling of learners and professionals, while contributing to a stronger and more future-ready tourism ecosystem across Europe and beyond.
AKMI is especially proud to coordinate TourX under ERASMUS-EDU-2021-PEX-COVE / Erasmus+ KA2, Project No: 101056184. Through TourX, AKMI reinforces its strategic commitment to innovation, international cooperation, and the development of high-quality vocational education pathways that are closely aligned with labour market needs. The project promotes a strong model of collaboration among education providers, industry stakeholders, and regional actors, contributing to the creation of sustainable and future-oriented tourism skills ecosystems.
This achievement is a significant recognition of the collective effort of the TourX partnership and further strengthens AKMI’s role as a leading organisation in European projects for vocational excellence, tourism education, and skills development.
