EXCEL4HOUSING4.0 is a transnational Erasmus+ Centre of Vocational Excellence focused on empowering the construction and housing sectors to meet the green and digital transitions. The project creates a strong network of VET providers, academia, industry, and public authorities to co-develop solutions addressing emerging skill demands in energy efficiency, green building technologies, and sustainable housing. With a multi-cluster approach, the project aims to foster cross-border innovation, develop industry-relevant training programs, strengthen business-education cooperation, and ensure long-term sustainability through governance and financing mechanisms. The initiative supports the implementation of the European Green Deal and Twin Transition strategies in the built environment sector.
Develop cross-border training and capacity building programs
→ Co-create innovative training schemes focusing on green, digital, and circular skills for sustainable housing and energy efficiency.Establish strategic VET-Academia-Industry partnerships
→ Promote collaboration among educational institutions, SMEs, and industry leaders to ensure relevance and applicability of training programs.Advance smart and green construction skills
→ Equip learners, workers, and educators with the knowledge and tools necessary for the decarbonisation and digitalisation of the housing sector.Promote inclusive and flexible upskilling/reskilling pathways
→ Tailor learning opportunities for youth, adults, and underrepresented groups in line with lifelong learning goals.Create a sustainable funding and governance model
→ Ensure long-term sustainability and policy alignment of VET excellence in energy efficiency finance and green construction.Contribute to EU Green Deal and Circular Economy goals
→ Align training outcomes with EU environmental and social sustainability targets through systemic vocational transformation.
Expected Results
- A network of Centres of Vocational Excellence
– A fully operational network connecting VET providers with research institutions, policy-makers, and industry actors across multiple EU regions. Validated cross-border curricula and training modules
– Development and implementation of modular, stackable training content focused on smart housing, digital tools, and circular building practices.Upskilled workforce in energy-efficient housing
– A wide group of VET learners, teachers, and SMEs trained on sustainable construction and finance models.Policy and governance frameworks
– Roadmaps, strategies, and recommendations for embedding green skills into national VET systems and regional strategies.New business-education alliances
