GBV-Watch Salons
GBV-Watch Salons aims to enable beauty professionals to play a key role in spotting early signs of domestic abuse and gender-based violence (GBV), and to support efforts in addressing these issues. The project focuses on providing ongoing education and training to help beauty workers recognize signs of abuse, engage in compassionate conversations, and guide victims toward appropriate support services. To support this goal, vocational beauty educators and beauty schools will be engaged and provided with a specialized training program designed to strengthen the skills of both current beauty professionals and students in identifying and responding to GBV cases.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive GBV Awareness Training Programme to educate beauty workers on recognizing and responding to signs of domestic abuse and gender-based violence (GBV).
• Create country-specific, non-interventional GBV Handling Guides tailored for beauty professionals to support victims safely and appropriately within their role.
• Offer advocacy for policy changes to formally recognize and support the role of beauty workers in combating GBV.
• Enhance existing screening methods by integrating non-traditional practitioners, such as beauty professionals, into the GBV prevention and early intervention framework, addressing a critical gap in current domestic violence response systems.
