GREENByte
The GREENByte project addresses the urgent need for sustainability in the ICT sector, which has become one of the world’s most energy-intensive industries. Despite its growing environmental impact, awareness and education on Green Software Engineering (GSE) remain limited — with only a handful of universities worldwide offering relevant programs. GREENByte aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by promoting energy-efficient and sustainable software development. The project focuses on integrating green coding principles into higher education curricula and industry practices, equipping future developers with the skills to reduce software-related energy consumption. By fostering collaboration between universities and the tech sector, GREENByte seeks to cultivate a new generation of IT professionals capable of optimizing software performance, minimizing energy use, and contributing to a more sustainable digital future.
