SHINE
The SHINE project has a clear objective of promoting the green transition in Africa while increasing energy access. Its main goal is to develop a comprehensive and impactful program that equips young Africans with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the sustainable development of their communities and the wider African region. To accomplish this, SHINE will upskill trainers, incorporate digital tools and digital skills, provide a strong foundation in solar technology, promote entrepreneurial skills, and create an EU-Africa exchange platform for peer learning and community building.
Objectives of the project:
- Strengthen the evidence-base around green skills in the solar industry in Africa by providing key insights both from theory and practice, practical guidance and tools for the capacity building strategy of the programme
- Develop a hybrid capacity building program (online multicompetence program + experiential learning) to train the trainers in Ghana, Uganda and Nigeria exploitable beyond the SHINE project: Improve the quality and responsiveness of VET to economic and social developments to enhance the labour market relevance of skills provision
- Redesign and pilot Solar Panel technology program for VET learners exploitable beyond the SHINE action
- Promote the employability and self-employment of learners enrolled in the SHINE VET program by providing them with the necessary skills and resources to secure decent jobs that align with their career aspirations and motivations
- Encourage long-lasting international partnerships among VET providers, as well as with industry, academia, and SMEs.
Expected Results
- Creation of tailor-made training modules to train-the-trainers
- Job-shadowing experiences in Europe
